Source code ending explained?

Well, I read other questions n' answers and I get the alternative
reality and the parallel universe concept, but how is it possible to
text someone else in a different reality/universe?
If it is, isn't he back in time? How come she gets the text a
looonnngggg while after he texts her? Is he actually ahead of time?
