Yonfan to head Busan's New Currents jury

SEOUL -- Chinese filmmaker Yonfan is to head the jury of Busan Film Festival's New Currents section, which is a competish for new Asian filmmakers. Also on the jury are Japanese thesp Joe Odagiri, Chinese actress Jiang Wenli, Locarno fest director Olivier Pere and Korean producer Oh Jung-wan. Yonfan gained international recognition with pics like "Bishonen" (Beauty), which played in Panorama at the 1999 Berlinale, and "Prince of Tears," which screened in competish at the 2009 Venice fest. Odagiri is best known for his roles in Kiyoshi Kurosawa's "Bright Future" and Yoichi Sai's "Blood and Bone." He also has starred in Korean pics -- he toplined in Kim Ki-duk's "Dream" in 2008, and will appear in Kang Je-gyu's upcoming war epic "My Way." Jiang first came to international attention in Chen Kaige's "Farewell My Concubine," which won the Palme d'Or in 1993. She won the actress award at the Rome Film Festival with Gu Changwei's "And the Spring Comes," and had her debut as a director with "Lan" in 2009. Pere led Cannes Directors' Fortnight from 2004 to 2009, when he joined Locarno. Oh's "Come Rain, Come Shine" played in competition at the Berlinale this year.
