'Hunger Games' VMA Sneak Peek: What Is Katniss Up To?
"Hunger Games" fans will get their first look at an exclusive sneak peek of footage from the upcoming adaptation of Suzanne Collins' widely popular novel on Sunday night (August 29) at the MTV Video Music Awards. But those of you who've been keeping an eye on the goings-on at MTV News have already seen more than a few brief teases of the "Games." We close out the week with yet another early look a brief one, admittedly at the VMA exclusive footage from "The Hunger Games." Check it out below! So does this clip take place during the titular Hunger Games? Or is Katniss on the run before she becomes District 12's tribute? We guess after the jump! In all likelihood, this clip takes place while our heroine (unwitting Hunger Games participant Katniss Everdeen, played by Oscar nominated actress Jennifer Lawrence) is competing in the titular teen-killing tournament. We can spot her Mockingjay pin on her lapel, and it certainly looks like she is running for her life in this clip. Plus, look at how well equipped she is! We can't wait to see her use that bow in the movie. When MTV News talked to Lawrence earlier this year, she said that a whole lot of training went into preparing to play Katniss. "The training's actually really fun," she said in the spring. "I've done archery for like six weeks and rock climbing, tree climbing, combat and running and vaulting, but also yoga. Things like that." We can definitely see the evidence of all that hard work in this first look, and can't wait until Sunday to see what more the sneak peek unveils. What did you think of this latest "Hunger Games" promo? Tell us in the comments section below or on Twitter!

Robert Pattinson Loves Him Some Ladies in New Images from Bel Ami
Though a U.S. release date has yet to be set, Twi-hards are already squeeing with anticipation for Robert Pattinson’s period adaptation Bel Ami, in which the Twilight star plays a turn of the century dandy sleeping his way through the ranks of Parisian high society. Which means he gets up close and personal (and hot and heavy and between the sheets) with pretty much every woman in sight, as seen in a new batch of pics that have surfaced online. Based on Guy de Maupassant’s 1885 French novel, Bel Ami marks a more mature turn for Pattinson, who finally gets to seal the deal onscreen with Kristen Stewart in November’s The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Pt. 1, if rather chastely. (And with horrific consequences.) As soldier-turned-man whore George Duroy in Bel Ami, however, expect RPattz to go full sexy with co-stars Christina Ricci, Uma Thurman (both pictured below), and Kristin Scott Thomas. Behold, the artful period design and various compromising positions you can expect to see (along with a snap of Pattinson and director Declan Donnellan). [Spletnik via Robsessed]

Mary Marie
A La Grenade Films production. Produced by Alexandra Roxo, Rachel Earnest, Alana Kearns-Green. Executive producers, Loukas Doukas, Kathryn Stoddard. Directed by Alexandra Roxo. Screenplay, Roxo, Alana Kearns-Green.With: Alana Kearns-Green, Alexandra Roxo, Tim Linden, Richard Kearns, Daniel Munro. Two adult sisters bond in quasi-incestuous intimacy after their mother's death in Alexandra Roxo's languorous femme-on-femme opus "Mary Marie." Unfolding in a suspended, dreamlike state of resurrected childhood, the sisters' enchanted summertime idyll is interrupted by the amorous attentions of a lanky country handyman (Tim Linden), and jealousy disturbs the siblings' erotic symbiosis. Throughout this mainly plotless mood-piece, lenser Magela Crosignani's palette of shifting textures and softly glowing colors creates a swoony aura that morphs according to its surroundings, from suffused daylight glancing off the grass to the smoky, bluish haze of a barroom dance floor. Striking-looking nanobudgeter could seduce niche arthouse auds. Playing dress-up in their mother's clothing, twirling with lighted sparklers at dusk, stealing pies off kitchen sills, sleeping and bathing together, and dancing cheek-to-cheek, Mary (Alana Kearns-Green) and Marie (helmer Roxo) move together encased in a kind of pre-Raphaelite time warp. Director Roxo's fascination with retro stylings (she made a number of fashion videos) flowers in the hothouse ambiance of the dead mother's house. Kearns-Green's mannered blonde spaciness complements Roxo's redheaded earthiness in a somewhat eerie manner, forecasting the murderous impulses that increasingly invade their realm.Camera (color, HD), Magela Crosignani; editor, Matteo Marchisano-Adamo; production designer, Tom Linden; costume designer, Emily Miller. Reviewed on DVD, New York, Aug. 8, 2011. (In NewFest.) Running time: 78 MIN. Contact the Variety newsroom at news@variety.com
